AIM: Habit & Mood Tracker · Last updated: 20 October 2026
This policy explains what information the AIM app ("AIM", "we", "us") collects, why, and what choices you have. AIM is published by Elena Gukasova. You can reach us at help@myaim.app.
1. The short version
- Your journal (moods, emotions, notes, photos, tags) stays on your device, and in your own private iCloud if you turn on iCloud sync. We do not receive your notes or photos. We do see which mood, emotions and tags are chosen (see section 2).
- Your habits and streaks are saved in our cloud so they can sync between your devices and survive a new phone.
- If you use the AI helper or the habit suggestions in onboarding, the text you type or the answers you choose are sent to our server and processed by an AI model. We do not keep that text.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- You can delete your account and cloud data inside the app at any time.
2. What we collect and why
| Information | Where it lives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Journal entries: mood, emotions, notes, photos, tags | On your device. If you turn on Diary in iCloud, also in your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit). We cannot read it | To give you your journal and mood statistics, and to sync your journal between your devices |
| Habits: titles, schedules, icons, colors, tags, reminder times, daily check-marks, streak, crystals and freezes | On your device and in our cloud (Google Firebase) | To run the app, sync devices, and calculate streaks on the server so they cannot be tampered with |
| Account data: an anonymous user ID; if you choose Sign in with Apple, your Apple user ID and, only if you share them, your name and e-mail (or Apple's private relay address); the name and avatar you pick in the profile | Our cloud (Firebase Authentication and Firestore) | To keep your data tied to you and let you move to another device |
| AI helper messages and onboarding answers | Sent to our server and an AI model for each request. Conversations are kept on your device only | To suggest habits. We store only a daily usage counter, not the text |
| Evening mood card: a technical token that lets our server show the card on your lock screen, the date of your last journal entry (not its content), your time zone and app language | Our cloud (Firestore) | To send the evening “How was your day?” card at about 9 pm your time, only if you have not made an entry that day |
| Purchase information: subscription status, purchases of crystal packs | Apple, and our subscription provider Adapty | To unlock AIM+ and deliver what you bought |
| Usage and device data: app events (including the mood you pick and which of our ready-made emotions and tags you choose; tags you create yourself are recorded only as “Custom”, never their text; never your notes or photos), device identifiers, approximate region, crash reports | Our analytics and diagnostics providers | To understand how the app is used, fix crashes, and measure advertising |
| Reminders | Scheduled on your device | To remind you about habits you choose |
3. The AI helper
When you write a goal in the AI helper, the conversation is sent to our server (Google Firebase), which forwards it to Google's Gemini model on Vertex AI to produce a reply. Before answering, a safety check looks at the conversation. We do not store the text on our servers; only a counter of how many requests you made per day is kept to prevent abuse. The conversation history shown in the app is stored on your device. AI replies may be inaccurate. They are not medical, psychological or financial advice.
During onboarding, the options you tap (not free text) are sent the same way so that we can suggest three first habits. If the network is unavailable, built-in suggestions are used instead.
4. Who we share data with
We use service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Google (Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics, and Vertex AI) for accounts, cloud sync, the server, analytics, crash reports and AI.
- Apple for Sign in with Apple, payments, subscriptions, iCloud sync of your journal (if you turn it on), and push delivery of the evening card and notifications.
- Adapty for subscription and paywall management.
- AppsFlyer and Meta (Facebook SDK) for measuring which advertising brings installs.
If you do not allow tracking when the app asks, AppsFlyer and Meta do not receive your advertising identifier from us. We do not sell your personal data and we do not show third-party ads in the app.
5. Where data is processed
Our servers are in the United States (Google Cloud, region us-central1). If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, your data is therefore transferred outside your region. Our providers use standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
6. Legal bases (EEA, UK)
We process data to perform our contract with you (running the app, sync, subscriptions), based on your consent (AI requests, tracking permission, notifications), and for our legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse, fixing crashes, basic analytics).
7. How long we keep data
Cloud data is kept until you delete your account. After deletion we remove your habits, streak and wallet data, profile, daily AI-usage counters, and your sign-in account. This includes the technical data for the evening mood card. Backups and provider logs may keep traces for a short period. Journal data lives on your device and, if you turned on iCloud sync, in your iCloud: it is removed when you delete entries, and iCloud copies are managed in your iCloud settings.
8. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and cloud data: in the app, Settings → Profile → Delete account.
- Delete your journal: delete entries in the app (this also removes them from your iCloud). You can turn iCloud sync off in Settings → Additional settings → Diary in iCloud.
- Evening mood card: turn it off in iOS Settings → AIM → Live Activities, or turn off diary reminders in the app settings.
- Tracking: turn it off in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Notifications: turn them off in iOS Settings or in the app settings.
- Access, correction, portability, objection, complaint: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the California CCPA) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to help@myaim.app and we will answer within 30 days.
9. Children
AIM is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to cloud data is restricted so that each person can read only their own data, and streak and crystal calculations run on the server. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Not medical care
AIM is a self-help tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or replace professional care. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis helpline right away.
12. Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, where required, tell you in the app.
